Covington news oct.1967 Wolverines "romp" over Lincolnton 102-0
The R.L. cousins wolverines scored the highest amount of points in Georgia football by downing westside102-0.Both teams are in there second year of varsity competion. This was probably the worst beating that any spectator at the game ever witnessed.
This writer has very little to say about this contest because the score indicates exactly the type of nightmare that the team from Lincolnton had. Coach Turman stated that,"after we was leading 41-0 at the half,we put in the second string line and a third string backfield and instucted the quarterback not to throw the ball. We tried to keep the score down, but we can't tell our backs to fall down everytime they break loose. We defintely did not intend to score that many points."
The wolverines will carry their 6-2 record into Washington next week to take on once beaten Washington Central. Washington is currently in second place behind Monroe with a 6-1 record.
If the Wolverines can take Washinton, this will put R.L. Cousins in second place in their region with a 7-2 record
This would be tremendous feat for a second year ball club."Lets wish the wolverines luck.
